About Us

Janet Bertin, Interior Designer & Owner

At Janet Bertin’s Decorating Den, we have built our business by working hand-in-hand with our clients to create looks that reflect their individual tastes and design visions. Whether the projects are whole-house or single-room; traditional or modern, complete re-dos or subtle refinements, we bring your dream spaces to life.

Part of what sets our ASID-award-winning designers apart is our ability to handle every aspect of your design projects from end to end. From working with you to refine your design concepts all the way through supervising final installations, we handle it all for you.

It starts by working with you to learn about you and your individual style and provide you with design options that match your vision. Then, working with our industry leading supplier network, we guide you through product selection. Want to keep favored pieces? Not an issue: it’s typical for us to incorporate favorite pieces in our designs.

Will your room need fresh paint or wallpaper? Not a problem, we can specify those AND arrange for contractors to handle the work. The same for window treatments. Flooring or floor covering? Ditto. Construction? We have long-standing relationships with established local contractors. Furniture is why I spend time twice a year at the global markets. And the list of what we provide goes on.

Equally importantly, we take on the tasks (and headaches) of sourcing products, sequencing deliveries and securing the labor needed to complete your project.

Our success over the past 30-plus years is premised on creating satisfied customers in a very demanding and sophisticated market. That means working within your budget; maintaining our focus on YOUR specific wants and needs, all while maintaining a culture of sustained excellence.

Whether your tastes run to traditional or ultra-modern; plush or sleek; whole-house or home-office, a look through our portfolio will demonstrate that we can handle it all.

Alexa Isenhart, Design Assistant

With over six years of experience in the design world, Alexa brings a thoughtful, story-driven approach to interiors, one that’s deeply rooted in emotion, psychology, and place. Her journey began with an internship at HGTV Magazine in New York City, where she immersed herself in styling and emerging design trends. Since then, she has contributed to home renovations across the US and Europe which embraced locally sourced materials and bespoke pieces to reflect the natural landscape and culture. Her work also includes collaborations with brands such as Anthropologie and Crème de la Crème, where she honed her skills in visual storytelling and styling.

Holding a Master’s degree in Psychology from Columbia University, Alexa blends design and neuroaesthetics to craft spaces that nurture well-being, creativity, and joy. She begins each project by exploring how her clients want to feel in their home whether it’s calm, grounded, inspired or energized. She uses color, texture, and meaningful memories to bring that vision to life. She loves incorporating locally sourced materials, artisan pieces, and statement artworks that feel deeply personal and rooted in story. Her goal is to create spaces that are as unique and layered as the people who live in them and to design spaces that inspire.

Outside of her design work, she enjoys traveling, painting, gardening, hiking, and a deep affinity for flowers, whether arranging them, growing them, or simply admiring their beauty.
